Scrap The Girls

The wonderful Kate asked me to be the featured scrapper this month over on the SCrap the Girls blog - I feel very honoured!!
This is my LO I did using this months criteria - which is
J-jewels (bling)
O-orange coloured pp or cardstock
Y-yellow embellishment
and also use lyrics out of a christmas carol as your title
and of course to be girly themed (with the exception of Santa!)

Sketch at Anna's Craft

A LO using Kaisercraft's "Belle" range.

And a couple of very Amanda Hall LO's - LOL! (Sorry, Amanda) The "pea pod" lo is blatantly scraplifted off Amanda's "Sunday 9.30am" LO in the latest SM. The original is absolutely gorgeous and mine is a bit simpler - prob needs something else - but I loved that the journaling sticker (October Afternoon) had a pea pod on it!.
This was my very quick effort at making a vegetable costume out of what I had at home (I live a bit 'in the sticks!'_ and found a green sheet and cut up Bunnings bags for the peas!LOL
This first LO though - is very much inspired by Amanda Hall's work too - although not straight out scraplifted off a particular LO!

Oh - and speaking of scraplifting (or 'jacking') - check THIS out that I found on Leeann's blog today - what a nice surprise. (and just quietly I like Leeann's LO better than my own!LOL)
Here's the new sketch up at Anna's - upload a LO to the gallery using this sketch (by Wendy Smith) by the end of the month to go in the draw to win a $35 voucher at Anna's with free postage.

anyhoo -night!

Kaisercraft Advent Calendar

I finished this today!LOL. Better late than never - and think of the days I don't have to put stuff in now!
(Have used the Dear Santa papers from Kaisercraft and some Collections chipboard shapes with Tim Holtz distress crackle paint-all available at Annas Craft)
I'd heard these take a lot of time and work - but honestly this didn't take me long at all.
I didn't paint it - but this wasn't a time saving measure - I just like the 'kraft' colour.
And then I just did all the drawers while talking to my MIL yesterday - didn't take all that long and then it just left decorating the drawers and doing the little LO in the middle.
So it may have been a good thing I went into it thinking it was a lot of work because I was pleasantly surprised at how easy it was! well worth it!
(My plan is to change the middle bit each year - but I didn't put 2009 on it just in case I don't!LOL)

Kaisercraft "Pack Your Bags"

Here's my LO I did with the Kaisercraft "Pack Your Bags" range.
(I've used the papers, brads, stamps, ink, die-cut, embroidered badge, alpha stickers, embellishment pack (transparencies and tickets) & a rub-on)

Now if you read my blog often you may find I dont' rave about stuff often - so you know when I DO rave about something I really mean it. I mean, I like heaps of stuff but every now and then something surprises me in a good way. Like the Kaisercraft inks that go with these ranges - they are really good value and fabulous inks! Maybe something I wouldn't have bought off my own bat as I'd just work with what I have but these inks are pretty cool. The Pack Your Bags ones are my fave - they come in the light beigey colour I've used here and also a pale blue which I love also. They are just the perfect colours for this range. I highly recommmend them! They retail at $3.99 for 2 inks - so good value.
And on that topic - I must also point out (or have I already?) that the Pack Your Bags stamp set is my fave stamp set I've seen for a while. It's not often you use ALL the stamps in a set but I have used ALL the stamps in this set on different occasions - some of them MANY times over. Really love them - and not just sayin' that, I swear! That is my honest to goodness opinion.
(available at Annas Craft Cupboard)

Oh - and very remiss of me too - the papers I used on my wreath in the last post are Kaisercraft's Dear Santa range.

..

Another one has jumped the Creating Keepsakes ship - Lisa Bearnson (founding editor) is leaving too - think I'm gonna miss my fave magazine! Hope it doesn't change too much.

BUgger!

A quick post with no photos - I just read that Ali Edwards is no longer writing her column (Studio A) in the Creating Keepsakes magazine.*insert very sad face here*.
Ali is one of my fave - no make that, my absolute favourite scrapper and I was actually just thinking I should renew my subscription if any good deals come out as I only have a few left on my sub - but honestly Studio A was my biggest reason for buying the magazine.
I love Ali Edwards work and will miss it dearly!!
Let's hope she moves onto other things and I can keep checking out her stuff! (but apparently nothing in the works at the moment).
And just on a side note: I wonder how the mag will go now it's lost Becky Higgins who had a huge following, and now Ali....

November Sketch at Anna's Craft

Here's novembers sketch challenge over at Anna's Craft Cupboard. Do a LO based on this sketch and upload to the gallery HERE and be in the draw to win a $35 voucher includng free postage.

And here's my take on the sketch - I've flipped it on it's side - and if you look close enough you can see that the circle is there - it's just stitched in cream.

[Products from Anna's Craft:
Fancy Pants Little Sprout pp, vanilla cardstock, AC platform thickers & Collections picket fence and butterfly]

...

Ok - Bradley is on the header today so have had a scrappy day while on my lonesome (well, with the company of 3 lovely children too - not all *that* lonely LOL!)
Got my DT parcel from Anna on Friday and *sigh* just love the new Cosmo Cricket Nutmeg range - it has woodgrain patterns on the reverse of every paper - in all diff colours - how fun is that? (yes - that IS my idea of fun - bit sad hmmm?)

This 2nd LO is a scraplift of a LO of Mary Macaskill's - seeing as I was lacking inspiration and took a quick walk through 2Peas last night.
[Pretty much all products on these lo's are available at Anna's Craft Cupboard]

To keep Bon happy....

LOL - NOT - as I've got absolutely nothing to share I dont' think.
I've just got a parcel of stuff from Anna's Craft Cupboard though, full of the new October Afternoon and Cosmo Cricket - so will have something to share soon.
It's been a rough and emotional couple of weeks - my Mum's brother died and seeing as she had only just lost her Dad, Mum is really quite heartbroken. So I've been down spending time with her - and then also went back down this week for the funeral which was actually a great stroll down memory lane. My brother gave the eulogy and it was just perfect especially as he was really close to our uncle.
But with the 10 hour trip down south, then the funeral and then coming back up yesterday/last night has really drained me and am feeling really flat today. So no scrapping for a little bit.

But just for something to share (and to perk this post up a bit) I've got these photos to share of the kids in the crop - I saw on Pip Prosser's blog (I think it was) of putting a chair in the crop and I thought how much better that looked than just kids standing in a crop.
And as for the people reading this that ACTUALLY grow crops and are feeling sorry for this one, just remember we are on a station.LOL!
STATION = PASTORAL LEASE = CAN'T SELL YOUR CROP
It means that we can't sell this - we can only use the grain and hay for livestock feed - so we basically chuck the crop in the ground with fertiliser and whatever
s there at the end of the season is there - we don't put any more money into it to get higher yields or less weeds. Just thought you should know that!LOL

Using the Crate Paper "North Pole" embellishments from Anna's Craft Cupboard.

Monday, October 19, 2009

Oh I DO have one to share....

Forgot about this LO - this is using the Kaisercraft "Pack Your Bags" range.
I used this range before but never used that compass looking stamp - and never realised it was actually a date kind of stamp - it has the days/months/years printed in it so you can mark your date using it.
I just thought I'd point that out seeing as you may not know - seeing as I had the stamps set for a while before I realised!!LOL.

Stupid old slow computer....

LOL - my laptop is in at the doctor's hopefully getting a persoanlity transplant so I'm on my old sloooow computer. My laptop really just has to get over itself and do it's job - which would be much easier if it just didn't overheat all the time and actually STAY ON! Get your head in the game, laptop!
Anyway, where was I? Oh - old computer - slow - not blogging to share my news til now.......
Ok - my news is..
I was lucky enough to make the Scrapbooking Memories Masters short(but really quite long)list! YAY. I am just happy to have made the list as I wasn't completely sure about my entry this year, so am just happy to get on there and not expecting to get any further.
Especially since I am in terrific company with all the names on that list. Of the 5 design team girls at Anna's Craft Cupboard - 4 of us got on there, and the other DT member is already a Master so can't enter!LOL. And I'm also on there with 3 of my Kaisercraft DT'ers as well. Wishing all the girls the very best of luck with it!

Sorry I dont' have any LO's to share - been working on stuff which I'll be able to show later - not much help right now I know............

Puzzle Sketch

The new pieces are up and here they are. And there's my take on them - using some Fancy Pants products generously supplied by Scrap Therapy, with Fancy Pants being their MAN of the month.
I think I was feeling a bit "Elsie Flannigan" when I did this LO - must've been the cloud - but I love how it turned out.

Kaiser Christmas album

A while ago we were sent a parcel of Kaisercraft Christmas products/OTP and had to make them into something. Now, I like to have my projects have a purpose - and not just another dust-collector so I was thinking what kind of album I could make with this - and then realised I had been meaning for ages to store our Christmas cards in some way (the ones we send out to people). I thought it would be a great way to firstly show how the kids ahve grown over the years - and also show how my scrapbooking had changed over the years too.
So this is my Christmas Card book!

Have used all Kaiser products except the ribbon - Christmas tabbed album , the Dash Away All papers, (and some sublime paper - the black dotty stuff) a bling word, Argentella brads, Garden Vine rub-on, wood flourish and the Kaiser number stamps

Class LO's

These are just a couple of LO's I taught in a class - one is an easy version and one is a bit more in-depth - with masking, sewing and distressing.
There's so many levels of scrapbooking in our little town - so it's kinda tricky to make LOs' to suit everyone - some people are absolutel beginners and I dont' want to scare them off, but then I still want the other girls, that are really 'seasoned' scrappers, to learn something.
